02Where it's activated

VDAC1 is a housekeeping gene expressed in essentially every tissue — but it is dialled up highest in the most energy-hungry ones (skeletal muscle, heart, brain), which is exactly why those tissues are so exposed when VDAC1 misbehaves. Bars = median RNA expression (TPM), GTEx v8.
